More information about ReBoot:
ReBoot aims to help Canadian documentary filmmakers create and produce for the digital environment. ReBoot will guide three producers through the development of cross-platform projects over the course of three web-based sessions with selected mentors, each a leading practitioner in cross-platform production. The selected projects will be mentored over the course of the week with the objective of expanding the project's digital capacity. The results will be presented in the live pitch session taking place at the NFB Cinematheque on Friday, February 19.

The winning pitch will receive targeted mentorship from industry professionals in all aspects of cross-media production. Mentors for the ReBoot lab are Lance Weiler, critically acclaimed writer/director and pioneer in film distribution (www.lanceweiler.com), Kat Cizek, NFB Filmmaker in residence (www.nfb.ca/filmmakerinresidence) and interactive content leader Evan Jones of Stitch Media (www.stitchmedia.ca).

To foster an audience for the work and build their project via collaborative social media, the winning production will also receive a custom branded site on EyeSteelFilm's award-winning www.opensourcecinema.org platform and three months of mentorship from the Montreal-based production house. In addition, winning projects will be matched with new media practicioners in specialized areas of design and production in order to further develop their projects.

In addition to this lab, ReBoot will produce a series of case studies and presentations by industry professionals, designed to enhance DOC members' skills and knowledge in digital production and distribution. These presentations will be posted on the soon-to-launched ReBoot section on www.docspace.ca. This will be a curated resource hub for discussing cross-platform documentaries, featuring videos, slideshows, links and resource documents.

ReBoot is made possible through support from the Ontario Media Development Corporation and the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund. For more details visit www.docorg.ca/en/reboot-project-description.
