Garbage! The Revolution Starts at Home
Garbage! is a feature documentary about how the Canadian household has become one of the most ferocious environmental predators of our time. The film follows a Toronto-based family who agrees not only to collect their garbage for a period of three months but also to store it in their garage. The challenge of saving and storing every scrap of their garbage created by this family is captured via a home video diary. Filmmaker Andrew Nisker then embarks on a fact-finding journey that reveals – how every wasteful action causes a damaging chain of reactions to our environment. So while the family’s garage continues to fill with their garbage, Andrew goes out into the world to show the story behind their waste. Garbage under a microscope has never been so revealing and shocking. By the end of this trashy odyssey, you are truly inspired to change your lifestyle, for our city and the world. In Garbage!, filmmaker Andrew Nisker, skillfully and succinctly puts all of the information in one place – taking the movement from the melting glaciers and dead birds lying on the beach to our neighbourhoods, into our homes and into our bodies, so that the average person can connect the dots between their actions and the environment. We believe that the fast paced humorous style of the film with animation will make Garbage! very accessible to families, parents and young people.
