need stable NON-car platform for road and parking lot shots
Hmm. Kind of dead here. Let's see if I can engage any discussion. :-)
I need to shoot some extended tracking footage while moving through roads and large parking lots. The surface is typical asphalt - not too bumpy (except for occasional speed bumps!) but it isn't dolly-track smooth either, obviously. Nor could I run that! I need a stable platform for shots of about 50mm focal length (35 mm equivalent). For reasons related to the subject of the film, I really, really don't want to use a motor vehicle, although I might get away with an all-electric.
I've been experimenting with full-size HD cameras mounted on bicycle trailers and in cargo-bikes. Too shaky. A wheelchair isn't going to work, so don't mention it (too hard to keep a reasonably straight track, and unlikely any smoother)
It might be my technique so far. Maybe I should have let out much more air from the bike (trailer) tires and added much more weight to the platforms? Maybe I need a steadicam-type stabilizer on the bike support? (no experience with those rigs)
Or maybe I'll end up going with an E-V, powered by bulldog or sustainable power source?
Thoughts or questions? Thanks for your ideas. Winter is coming, so don't delay :-)
