Hot Docs announces Audience Choice and Filmmakers Award at most successful festival to date

Hot Docs has revealed that the 2010 Audience Award winner is Mark Landsman's Thunder Soul followed by John Walker's A Drummer's Dream and German Berger's My Life With Carlos followed in votes. The inaugural Filmmakers Award, voted by filmmakers with official selections in the 2010 Festival, goes to Jan Tenhven's Autumn Gold.

Over $72,000 in prizes handed out at Friday's Awards Presentation

CBC's Jian Ghomeshi hosted the Awards Presentation on Friday, May 7 at the Isabel Bader Theatre. The Best Canadian Feature Award was presented to Toronto filmmaker Shelley Saywell for In the Name of the Family and the Special Jury Prize - Canadian Feature was presented to Vancouver-based Academy Award-winning filmmaker John Zaritsky for Leave Them Laughing.

TDF prize winners - EyeSteel Film and Storyline Entertainment

Over $55,000 in cash prizes were awarded to projects at this year’s Toronto Documentary Forum (TDF), Hot Docs’ two day international co-financing market event, which wrapped yesterday. Thirty projects representing 12 countries were presented to a panel of over 120 commissioning editors and other funders and a gallery of over 450 industry observers.

NFB Doc Summit 2010 - May 7

The NFB and Hot Docs will  present the seventh edition of the Doc Summit on Friday, May 7 from 9 am - 12 pm, Rogers Industry Centre, first floor. The focus of the Doc Summit is to discuss the sector’s challenges and opportunities, and to brainstorm on what the industry will look like when it’s working best.

Industry Events - Thursday, May 6

Today is the second and final day of the Toronto Documentary Forum (TDF) at Koerner Hall. The fourth NFB Coffee Talk on Women Directing Justice takes place at 11 am. Conference Sessions today are on Poetics of Online Documentary at 2 pm followed by Kim Longinotto discussing her work at 2:30 pm. NFB Coffee Talks and Conference Sessions run in the Industry Centre in Victoria College.
