Born in Chicago and raised in the US, England and Windsor, Canada, Michael McNamara presently lives in Toronto where he works as a filmmaker, screenwriter and director. In February 2002, he launched Markham Street Films with his partner Judy Holm, specializing in projects that are edgy, smart, provocative and funny.

"Lights Out" for Nature of Things, "The Borderless Sky" and McNamara is also developing the novel "Heaven is Small" by Canadian author Emily Shultz, as a feature film.
His latest documentary is Acquainted With the Night, which was produced for documentary in Canada, and ARTE in France and Germany. He is currently completing the documentary The F-Word: Who Wants to Be a Feminist? (CBC) and Fan Boy Confessional (Space), exploring the lives of pop culture obsessives..
