WIDC application dealine: August 31
The Women in Director's Chair Workshop (WIDC) application deadline is Tuesday, August 31. Applications are welcome from Canadian women that have
a recognized track record directing low budget film, television or video projects (long/short form), drama, documentary, life-style, experimental, or theatre or some directing experience who are crossing over to directing with a recognized set of highly transferable skills.
WIDC Fees: $4,300 plus meals, travel, accommodation at The Banff Centre = $7260.
A variety of volunteer opportunities and scholarships are available, including from ACTRA, BC Film, NFB, Quebecor Fund, Panacea Entertainment and WIFT Vancouver.
ADJUDICATION PROCESS: A nationally representative jury of film and television industry professionals including WIDC alumnae directors, will select eight director participants. Adjudications are usually complete by the first week of November.
The WIDC is an initiative of the Creative Women Workshops Association (CWWA), a national non-profit organization founded in the province of Brisitsh Columbia, in June 2000. Nearly 1,000 directors, actors and crew have attended WIDC since 1997. 60% of director alumnae reported advances in their careers and projects this year.
