Youth Media Alliance's Awards of Excellence deadline

The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) is accepting applications until Monday, February 21, 2011 for its English-language Awards of Excellence. This year the YMA has introduced a Special Award for Interactive Web Content. The Awards are open to all Canadian-made, youth-oriented productions originally broadcast or released online in English between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2010. The wards of Excellence gala will take place on June 2, 2011 at Toronto's Glenn Gould Studio.

The Youth Media Alliance seeks to enrich the lives of Canadian children and teens by helping improve the quality of the content created for them on all screen-based media. The Alliance pursues its mission of encouraging high-quality content by presenting annual awards of excellence to the best productions targeting young English- and French-speaking Canadians. It offers ongoing training tailored to the special needs of youth production professionals through workshops, seminars, and special events such as the Children, Youth and Media and Média-Jeunes conferences. It also conducts research investigating the impact of media on young people. Finally, Youth Media Alliance lobbies governments to generate interest in all matters concerning screen-based content for young Canadians.
